Thinking out Loud!

Wow! If this is the quality of the Nepali movies now, then all Nepalese, in and out of the country should start watching these movies again. Because this trailer looks freaking amazing and scary at the same time. Points to the VFX team, Shree Krishna Shrestha and Manoj Shrestha (as credited on the YouTube), practical effect crew and cinematographer Niraj Kadel with special kuddos to sound engineer and effects crew.

Take a peek at this trailer here, before we dig deeper into details:

Arpan Thapa's directorial venture after Sunkesari (Horror/Thriller), GHAR, also dips into Nepali horror/thriller genre. With Surakshya Panta in the lead and Arpan Thapa, himself beside her in the storyline, GHAR is produced by Sharmila Pandey, which also stars Benisha Hamal, Asmita Khanal, Saroj Aryal, Shristi Maharjan and Bikash Khanal.
Even the opening scene of this trailer is very intriguing and involved and already hints us of what we are getting into. And attention to the details could be recognized very clearly as we can spot the very scary, long toe nails when the second clip is rolling. The third clip must be the money shot that would bring the audience to the theaters. It appears to be like something out of a Hollywood science fiction flick where glimpse of 'something' moving inside a pregnant woman. And who can shake off the goosebumps when a creepy body is hanging by a rope from a stairs railing.

After few of these eerie shots, we are introduced to a suspicious, spooked little brahmin who asks the lead female if they got the house real cheap, adding to already uneasy feelings. Unfortunately, the following shots reveal too much of the plot as it explain and establishes the back story regarding the house in subject. Also, the lead actress comes out to be a bit  raw acting wise, as she fails to capture human side of the character and lacks the emotions that one should have. However, her body posture and movements during the scenes where she is 'possessed' by the supernatural entity is flawless. The final clip must be the best after third clip that we discussed earlier. Female lead is being dragged by her hair, on the stairs and looks like she is unable to defend herself which is convincing. Only issue we have with this trailer is that the plot looks way similar with other Hollywood and Bollywood productions that we have already witnessed. We do hope that they at least have a shocking ending which is unlike any of the previous movies with similar story.

Overall, it is one of the best Nepali horror\thriller movie trailer to date but will have to wait until July 19th (3rd Shrawan, 2076) to see how it plays out and how would you respond to it.
