Thinking out Loud!

There is no doubt Namrata Shrestha is one of the most hardworking, versatile and talented actress in Nepali movie scene. Even in her debut movie, Sano Sansar (one of the first digital Nepali movie), she was brilliant with her character. Her role in Maun as a deaf and mute girl shocked as well as made us fall in love with her all over again. And, in this teaser as well, she looks very determined and pained but a little out of place.

The teaser looks promising and modern as it is depicted as first female led action/drama Nepali movie but at another glance, the story-line seems old, weak and tacky and has a bit of 80's and 90's bollywood masala movie vibe. In the official character poster (left) that was released, Namrata Shrestha looks more like a model posing for the photo shoot rather than a boxer in a fight. What else it lacks is in VFX, which is done poorly. The same could be said about the original sound track video released from the movie. I know that our entertainment industry is just entering the digital age and are just starting with VFX thing and it will take some time to get it right but I really hope that they correct it and make it believable by the time the movie hits the theater.

Apart from that, it is just a 58 seconds long clip posted on YouTube but the issue with it is that it only contains less than 31 seconds of real footage which has meaning and gives us a peak at the movie or shall we say the character 'Xira'. This issue could have been easily avoided by shortening the teaser or adding more clip hinting at us why Xira is the way she is portrayed in the teaser. Take a look at this teaser and decide for yourself:

The teaser opens with Xira standing in the rain with sad face and then quickly moves towards her working out. On the next clip, she reveals her bruised self near a boxing ring with crowd cheering. Directed by debutante Ashutosh Raj Shrestha under Namrata Shrestha Production, Xira falls under action/drama genre with Namrata Shrestha in the lead and with Anoop Bikram Shahi, Promod Agrahari, Srijana Regmi, Raymon Das Shrestha, Suzta Shrestha and Samrat Magar in supporting roles. Xira is scheduled to hit the theater on 6th Bhadra 2076 (23rd August).

A video for original sound track titled 'Aakhai le bolcha' was also released. This song is written by Rabi Malla, composer by Kalyan Singh and sang by Santosh Lama. In this video, chemistry between Namrata and Anoop could be clearly seen while Anoop's character pushing Xira to do her best and practice. Apart from that 'couple's goal' scenes, there are some intimate scenes included in the video for obvious reasons and both look comfortable with each other. Even the song and the music compliments what we see on the screen.

Take a look at this romantic number from the movie here:
